The Austrian goalkeeper with Croatian roots has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further season.

The pathway from Šamorín to Dunajská Streda continues, with 21-year-old goalkeeper Phillip Živanović becoming the latest player to join us from our second-tier partner club. The Vienna-born shot-stopper began pre-season training with DAC earlier this summer and has now signed a two-year contract, with the agreement including an option for an additional season.

Born on 8 July 2005, Phillip holds both Austrian and Croatian citizenship and has Croatian roots through his parents. He started playing football at the age of six with Slovan HAC Vienna but considers himself a product of the Admira Wacker academy. It was with Admira’s reserve team that he made his first appearances in senior football, competing in both the Austrian fifth and fourth divisions while also training regularly with the first team. He later played in the Austrian third tier for FC Marchfeld before joining Šamorín at the beginning of this year. His development now continues with a step up to the Slovak top flight, the Niké Liga.

“It has been several weeks since I arrived here, and I can honestly say that I feel very good. My teammates and the coaching staff have welcomed me warmly, and I already feel at home. The club operates at a very high professional level, with excellent facilities and everything a player needs to give his maximum every single day. When I joined Šamorín in the winter, I already knew about the cooperation with DAC, and my goal was to prove through my performances that I was ready for the next step. I’m very happy that I managed to achieve that. Now I want to keep working hard, make the most of every training session, help the team and gradually fight for the position of first-choice goalkeeper,” said the 21-year-old after signing his contract.

Sporting Director Jan-Pieter Martens added:

“We are pleased to continue the pathway we have built between Šamorín and DAC. Phillip is another player who has earned his opportunity here through his performances at our partner club. In the past, players such as Sylla, Modesto and Filipe successfully followed the same route, and we believe Phillip can become another example of this development model working well. He is a talented young goalkeeper with great potential and the right mentality. Now it is up to him to continue working hard and gradually earn his place in the first team.”
